The General Nuba Union announced the activation of its structures and offices in Khartoum and other states to promote peace, strengthen social cohesion, and address the impact of the war waged by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The Union also reaffirmed its support for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in the “Battle of Dignity.”
Speaking at a Sudan News Agency (SUNA) media forum at the Omdurman Cultural Center, Union Chairman Mohamed Abu Anja Abu Ras said the Union is advancing two key initiatives: a conference bringing together Nuba communities to address internal issues and a Nuba-State dialogue focused on national priorities.
He said consultations are underway with government institutions and Nuba traditional and community leaders to develop a shared vision for the dialogue.
Abu Ras praised the sacrifices of the SAF, saying it had fulfilled its national duty in the Battle of Dignity, and expressed confidence that Sudan would overcome its current challenges.
He stressed that the post-war period requires honest self-reflection, national unity, rejection of harmful foreign interference, acknowledgment of past political mistakes, and a renewed focus on shared national interests.
