Incheon, South Korea, (Nabaa Sudan) – The Sudanese Innovations and Robotics Team has won the gold medal in the Raja’a Cherkaoui El-Moursli Courageous Achievement Award at the 2026 FIRST Global Challenge, an international robotics competition hosted in Incheon, South Korea, from October 7 to 10. The event brought together more than 185 national teams from around the world to compete in developing technological solutions to combat wildfires.
The award recognises teams that demonstrate resilience and the ability to overcome challenges, alongside their technical performance.
The Sudanese team earned the distinction after its students and coaches designed and programmed their robot remotely, despite being dispersed across nine countries, including Sudan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kenya and Malaysia, due to the ongoing war in Sudan.
