Sudan's Ambassador to Germany, Ilham Ibrahim Mohamed Ahmed, called for intensified international support to protect Sudan's cultural and archaeological heritage during “Sudan Day 2026” in Berlin, which brought together Sudanese and German experts and researchers.
She warned that Sudan's heritage is under growing threat from war-related damage to archaeological sites, museums, and cultural institutions, as well as environmental and climate risks.
The ambassador urged the international community and development partners to support Sudan's National Corporation for Antiquities and Museums through documentation, digital preservation, museum rehabilitation, capacity-building, and sustainable site management.
She also stressed the importance of continued academic and research cooperation with German and international institutions to support efforts to preserve and restore Sudan's cultural heritage.
