Sudan’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Imad-Eddin Adawi, lauded the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for supporting Sudanese government efforts, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, in preserving the country’s heritage.
This came during his meeting on Thursday with the Director of UNESCO’s Office in Khartoum, Ahmed Al-Junaid, to discuss enhancing cooperation between Sudan and UNESCO in areas related to science, culture, and heritage, alongside UNESCO’s action plan to support several sectors as part of recovery and reconstruction efforts.
Adawi praised UNESCO’s initiative in holding a workshop on strengthening the protection of Sudanese culture and heritage and combating illicit trafficking, held this week in Cairo.
For his part, Al-Junaid affirmed UNESCO’s commitment to continue cooperation with the Sudanese government to support the preservation of Sudanese cultural identity and heritage, commending the close collaboration and strong support received from government bodies, ministries, and relevant institutions.
