NEW YORK, (Nabaa Sudan) — Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem addressed on Thursday a high-level meeting organized by the African Union and the United Nations on sustainable solutions to displacement.
In his address, the Minister briefed the participants on the efforts of the National Higher Committee for Voluntary Return and Reintegration, which was established by the Government to facilitate the return of citizens to their homes and restore basic services in all areas liberated from the scourge of the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.
He noted that the return of nearly five million displaced persons to their homes requires the level of international funding provided to be commensurate with these numbers, stressing the importance of ensuring that assistance goes beyond emergency relief to adopt a development- and reconstruction-oriented approach.
In conclusion, he called on international organizations to stand behind Sudanese state institutions, support their programs, and expand partnerships that have proven successful.
