NEW YORK, (Nabaa Sudan) — On the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud received Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem.
The meeting reviewed the historic and fraternal ties between Sudan and Somalia, developments in Sudan and the Horn of Africa, and a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The two sides stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation in international forums, particularly the United Nations and the Security Council, in support of the sovereignty, unity and stability of states and the promotion of regional peace and security.
They also discussed prospects for strengthening regional cooperation and integration, supporting state institutions, and rejecting foreign interference and activities that threaten the security and stability of countries in the region.
The Sudanese side expressed appreciation for Somalia’s supportive positions toward Sudan and its people, while the Somali side affirmed its commitment to continued solidarity and coordination with Sudan, based on the close ties between the two brotherly countries and peoples.
