New York (Nabaa Sudan) – Sudanese diplomat Ammar Mohamed ‎Mahmoud, Minister Plenipotentiary at Sudan’s Permanent Mission to ‎the United Nations in New York, questioned UAE candidate Lana ‎Nusseibeh on her independence from her government and her ability ‎to ensure impartiality in leading the international organization.‎

Mahmoud made the remarks during an interactive dialogue session ‎held by the UN General Assembly to discuss Nusseibeh’s vision for ‎leading the organization, amid accusations that the UAE is supporting ‎the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Sudan.‎

The Sudanese diplomat also asked about the candidate’s willingness to ‎support an independent international investigation into accusations of ‎supplying the RSF militia with weapons and equipment, as well as ‎violations against civilians linked to such support, including sexual ‎violence and mass rape against women and girls.‎
