Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Turkish exports to Sudan amounted to around $150 million during the first half of 2026, indicating a partial recovery in trade between the two countries, coinciding with the return of Turkish companies to operations and the reactivation of joint economic cooperation mechanisms.
The Turkish Trade Attaché in Sudan said during the Sudanese Private Sector Economic Dialogue Conference in Khartoum that Türkiye is ready to strengthen partnerships between Turkish and Sudanese companies to support the recovery of the private sector and expand investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, food processing, infrastructure, and water.
He noted that meetings of the Joint Economic Committee between Türkiye and Sudan resumed in Ankara this year, describing the meeting as an important step toward strengthening economic cooperation and supporting recovery efforts.
The Turkish Trade Attaché explained that Turkish companies can contribute by transferring technology, providing training and equipment, and establishing production and marketing partnerships, in addition to facilitating access to markets, with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises as major sources of employment and domestic production.
He said the agricultural sector offers broad opportunities for cooperation, including increasing productivity, adding value to agricultural products, and opening new markets. He also pointed to Turkish expertise in agriculture, water systems, manufacturing, food industries, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
The Turkish diplomat noted that Türkiye continues to provide support to Sudan in the fields of health, agriculture, water, education, and livelihoods, adding that his country sent around 30,000 tons of aid in December 2025 in coordination with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
He stressed that Sudan’s economic recovery should be Sudan-led and inclusive, with economic opportunities provided to the population, and announced Türkiye’s readiness to support this process through its institutions, companies, and accumulated experience in cooperation with Sudan.
