$500,000 Initiative to Support Sudan’s Agricultural Sector and Build Producers’ Capacity

Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim reviewed a new initiative by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), in coordination with the African Development Bank, aimed at supporting Sudan’s agricultural sector and building the capacity of producers under the Arab-African Excellence Programme.

The initiative is funded at $500,000 annually for five years, beginning in 2026.

During his meeting with the AOAD Director-General, the Minister also reviewed efforts to develop an integrated programme to support vaccine production centers and secure financing mechanisms for them in cooperation with regional financial institutions, including the African Development Bank and the Sahel-Saharan Bank (BSIC).

The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening the role of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development as a partner in implementing agricultural development programmes across Arab and African countries, thereby supporting both the crop and livestock production sectors.
