A new cooperation protocol was signed today in Cairo between the Sudanese Customs Forces and the Egyptian Customs Authority, marking a step forward in strengthening institutional partnership between the two sides, with a focus on training programmes, capacity-building, and the exchange of technical and administrative expertise in customs operations.
The protocol centres on activating cooperation with the Customs Institute in Alexandria as a specialized platform for technical and administrative knowledge exchange and workforce development, contributing to improved customs performance and enhanced staff capabilities across the sector.
Head of the Sudanese Customs Forces Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim said during the signing ceremony that customs relations between Sudan and Egypt are rooted in deep historical ties and longstanding bonds between the two brotherly peoples. He noted that cooperation in training and capacity-building dates back decades and has helped qualify generations of Sudanese customs officers under Egyptian experts.
He added that the new protocol opens broader horizons for leveraging modern expertise and technologies in support of institutional development and more efficient customs operations in both countries.
For his part, the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority affirmed that the protocol reflects the depth of Egyptian–Sudanese relations and Cairo’s commitment to supporting institutional modernization efforts among customs agencies in the region, serving shared interests, streamlining procedures, and strengthening economic integration. He stated that the new partnership represents an advanced step toward expertise transfer and institutional capacity enhancement, in line with rapid developments in customs work and in consolidation of sustainable bilateral cooperation.
