Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim said ending the war in Sudan requires “halting external support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia,” strengthening the humanitarian response, and backing a Sudanese-led political process that delivers lasting peace.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Gebreil said he met at the European Parliament in Brussels, accompanied by Ambassador Abdelbagi Kabir, with Hilde Vautmans, Chair of the European Parliament's Delegation for Relations with Africa, and Victoria García Pérez, the European Parliament's Rapporteur on Sudan.

He said he briefed the officials on the latest political, security, and humanitarian developments in Sudan and the war's impact on civilians and state institutions. He underscored the European Union's role in curbing external interference and supporting a political settlement, while reaffirming the government's commitment to the Jeddah Declaration and its call for an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.

The Minister urged the European Union to “condemn the crimes of the RSF militia, designate it as a terrorist organization, and refrain from equating it with the Sudanese Armed Forces.” He warned that the militia continues to threaten civilians and reiterated Sudan's categorical rejection of “any attempts to undermine its territorial integrity or infringe upon its sovereignty.”
