Khartoum Wali Discusses Agricultural and Technological Cooperation with Turkish Delegation

Wali of Khartoum State Ahmed Othman Hamza held talks with a delegation from Konya University led by Board of Trustees Chairman Mohamed Kiliç, focusing on strengthening cooperation in agricultural research, modern technologies, and manufacturing industries.

The meeting highlighted the importance of advancing Khartoum State’s agricultural sector through the adoption of modern technologies and enhanced research partnerships. The state’s arable land is estimated at around 1.8 million feddans, of which approximately 450,000 feddans are currently cultivated.

During the discussions, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation Ser-Al-Khatem Fadl-Al-Mawla noted that the state hosts eight major agricultural projects and produces vegetables, fruits, and animal feed.

He added that Khartoum State’s livestock population includes over 375,000 cattle, around 800,000 sheep, 900,000 goats, and 8,000 camels, in addition to poultry and fish production.

The meeting also highlighted prospects for cooperation in modern irrigation systems, food industries, and agricultural technologies, aimed at strengthening food security and boosting production capacity.
