Sudan, OPEC Discuss Cooperation to Support Oil Sector

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy Ali Abdelrahman Mohamed met with OPEC Secretary-General Haitham Al Ghais on the sidelines of the meetings of the Technical Committee of the Charter of Cooperation between OPEC and non-OPEC oil-producing countries (OPEC+), held in Baku, Azerbaijan, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between Sudan and the organization in support of the oil sector.

The two sides emphasized the importance of Sudan benefiting from the capabilities and expertise provided by OPEC. Al Ghais praised Sudan's participation in the OPEC+ meetings and its submission of a study on the country's production capacity for 2027.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy called for support to efforts aimed at increasing oil exploration and production. Al Ghais affirmed OPEC's readiness to provide possible technical support to Sudan, expressing hope that improved stability in the country would contribute to boosting oil production in the coming period.
