Sudan’s Agriculture Minister Concludes Syria Visit to Boost Agricultural Cooperation with ACSAD

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Dr. Ismat Gurashi has concluded a five-day official visit to Syria at the invitation of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), holding talks aimed at strengthening agricultural cooperation.

The minister and his delegation met with ACSAD officials, culminating in the signing of the second-phase implementation record for the Green Belts Project and the handover of optimal land-use maps for several Sudanese states to support agricultural planning and sustainable development.

Gurashi also held talks with Syrian Minister of Agriculture Eng. Basel Al-Suwaidan on expanding cooperation in agricultural research, seed production, and technology transfer. The two sides also drafted a bilateral agricultural cooperation agreement for formal approval and signing.

The visit included tours of research centers affiliated with Syria's Ministry of Agriculture and ACSAD, where the delegation reviewed research programs and technical capabilities. The two sides also discussed supplying Sudan with heat-tolerant wheat seed varieties.
The visit concluded with the signing of the meeting record between Sudan's Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation and ACSAD, reaffirming both sides' commitment to expanding agricultural cooperation and advancing shared interests.
