Bangkok (Nabaa Sudan) – Sudan’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, has warned of the fragility of the country’s food security situation, cautioning that developments in the Gulf region could affect supply chains, transportation costs, and agricultural production inputs.
He made the remarks during his participation in a meeting of Arab finance ministers with the President of the World Bank Group, held on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Bangkok.
Ibrahim stressed that rising production costs could intensify the cost-of-living pressures on citizens and make it more difficult to secure food requirements. He called for stronger international cooperation and greater support for productive sectors, particularly agriculture.
The meeting also discussed support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and expanding employment opportunities for young people and women.
