World Food Programme (WFP) Country Director Dr. Abdullah Al-Wardat confirmed that the WFP remains a key partner for Sudan and Al-Gezira State, noting that the wheat support project will continue until 2028 through the provision of fertilizers and improved seeds.
Al-Gezira State Wali Al-Taher Ibrahim Al-Khair said WFP interventions have supported the state’s recovery efforts and the resumption of agricultural production. He praised the programme’s contributions to implementing the “Ambarona” project, which benefited 2,400 people, providing seeds and fertilizers to farmers in Al-Gezira Scheme, supporting agricultural research, and assisting fish fingerling production in southern Al-Gezira.
The state’s Ministry of Production and Economic Resources also confirmed that the programme has contributed to restoring agricultural activity and supporting small-scale farmers and rural households.
