Head of the Health Unit at the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Mohamed Hussein Al-Douma, highlighted the organization’s efforts to strengthen regional regulatory coordination and integration during his participation in a panel discussion titled “Health Security in a Disrupted World” on the sidelines of the 13th East Africa Healthcare Conference.
IGAD is seeking to establish a regional forum bringing together local pharmaceutical manufacturers and supporting a unified regulatory approach across all member states. The initiative aims to facilitate the more efficient cross-border movement of medicines, expertise, and health technologies, while giving manufacturers a stronger collective voice and ensuring that citizens have access to high-quality healthcare.
