Prime Minister Briefed on Humanitarian Support for IDP Camps

Prime Minister Kamil Idris received a comprehensive briefing on nationwide humanitarian operations, including urgent winter assistance to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Northern State and support for 650,000 families under the Ministry’s Ramadan program.
The briefing came during his meeting in Khartoum with Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare Dr. Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih. The Ramadan initiative, launched in Al-Gezira State, has been expanded across multiple states to assist vulnerable families.
Discussions also covered relief convoys dispatched to South Kordofan State and its capital, Kadugli, delivering essential food supplies and medicines to affected communities.
The meeting stressed the pressing need to scale up coordinated assistance for IDPs in El-Obeid through joint efforts by state institutions, local communities, and regional and international partners. Both sides reaffirmed the imperative of unified social responsibility across government bodies, improved camp management, and strengthened coordination mechanisms to promote stability for displaced populations.
The Minister called for urgent support to Khor Taggat camps in North Kordofan State and Goz Al-Salam camp in White Nile State, underscoring the growing humanitarian demands.
He further announced preparations for the Development Forum scheduled for April 2026 in Khartoum and the National Forum for Persons with Disabilities set for May 2026.
Dr. Mua’tasim Ahmed Salih highlighted plans to reorganize social protection resources and restructure the Zakat Chamber under a renewed strategic vision to reinforce its poverty-alleviation mandate. He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing health insurance reforms aimed at achieving universal coverage.
The Minister expressed deep appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support in the provision of prosthetic limbs.
