UN Security Council to Vote Friday on One-Month Extension of Sudan Sanctions

Security Council to Vote Tommoro on Extending Sanctions against Sudan

The UN Security Council will vote Friday on a draft resolution to extend the sanctions imposed on Sudan for only one month, allowing additional time for consultations on a US-drafted resolution seeking to expand the arms embargo to cover the entire country.

The vote comes amid a lack of consensus on the US proposal, following objections from Russia, China, the African Group, and Pakistan.
