Sudan Participates in 68th WIPO Assemblies in Geneva

Sudan took part in the 68th Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), held in Geneva from July 7–15, 2026.

The Sudanese delegation included Dr. Adel Shamseldin Mohamed Yousif, Legal Adviser at the Ministry of Justice, and Huda Saleh Abu Bakr Othman, Legal Adviser at the Intellectual Property Office.

The delegation participated in discussions on strengthening intellectual property systems, expanding international cooperation, and enhancing national capacity in the field of intellectual property.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the delegation held talks with WIPO officials on expanding cooperation with Sudan and increasing access to the organization's technical assistance and expertise. Discussions focused on supporting recovery and reconstruction, strengthening intellectual property institutions, advancing digital transformation, and building national capacities.

The two sides also discussed the role of intellectual property in fostering innovation, protecting national products and traditional knowledge, and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in line with Sudan's national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
