The government of Sudan stated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia launched an attack on World Food Programme (WFP) trucks on Friday while transporting food aid to civilians in the areas of Allah Kareem, Al-Semaih, Al-Rahad, and Um Rawaba in North Kordofan. The assault resulted in casualties and the destruction of humanitarian supplies.
In a press statement, the government emphasized that the attack constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, undermining efforts to deliver aid to those in need.
The government stressed that this was not an isolated incident but part of the militia’s ongoing policy of using food deprivation to pressure civilians, urging the international community to condemn such practices and hold those responsible accountable.
The government reiterated its commitment to cooperating with the United Nations and its humanitarian agencies to ensure the unhindered delivery of aid.
