Al-Gadharef State has launched 50 beehives and 150 gum Arabic tapping tools provided by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), in support of the productive sector and efforts to improve livelihoods.

Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, Engineer Ammar Abdullah Suleiman, said Turkish support includes productive and training projects, as well as understandings to provide soil-testing laboratories, tanning equipment and leather-processing machinery.

He noted the ministry’s interest in supporting poor families and young people through training, establishing productive associations and linking them with financial institutions. TİKA Director Engineer Ghalib Yilmaz, meanwhile, affirmed the agency’s continued support for productive projects in Sudan.

The representative of the Wali of Al-Gadharef State was also briefed on a project to introduce a Nigerian breed of broiler and layer chickens, in cooperation with Coral Poultry Company, targeting a number of poor families through productive associations.
