Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has expressed concern over the escalating violence in and around the city of El Obeid in North Kordofan, warning of the continuing deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation across Sudan.
In a statement, Youssouf called for those responsible for violations and abuses against civilians to be held accountable. He also urged external actors to refrain from taking any steps that could further intensify the conflict or complicate efforts to reach a resolution.
