During a telephone call between President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, and President of Burundi and Chairperson of the African Union, Evariste Ndayishimiye, Al-Burhan thanked the Burundian President and AU Chairperson for his steadfast support for the success of the dialogue initiative, stressing the state’s commitment to removing all obstacles that could hinder the peace process, including legal measures.
For his part, the Burundian President welcomed the initiative of the Independent National Committee aimed at achieving a “Sudanese-Sudanese” dialogue inside Sudan with the participation of political and civil forces, blessing the step and describing it as the shortest path to achieving comprehensive peace in Sudan.
The AU Chairperson also commended the Sudanese government’s efforts to create an environment conducive to dialogue, particularly the decisions by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council to review legal measures against opposition figures, describing them as a step that reflects the leadership and government’s commitment to ensuring the success of the initiative.
He reaffirmed his country’s and the African Union’s support for Sudan until peace and sustainable development are achieved, expressing hope that Sudan would soon resume its activities within the African Union.
