Governor of Darfur Region Minni Arko Minawi affirmed that the door remains open for members of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) who wish to abandon the group and side with the nation and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), calling on those who have been misled to return before it is too late.
Addressing a seminar in Omdurman on defections within the RSF militia, Minawi called for unity and rejection of rhetoric that divides the people, while urging that the national interest be prioritized. He also pointed to the advances made by the SAF and Joint Forces on several fronts.
He stressed that the next phase requires joint efforts to move toward reconstruction and development and the return of displaced people and refugees to their areas, emphasizing the important role of the press and media in raising awareness and supporting national issues.
