The Egyptian government has announced the continued validity of refugee and asylum seeker cards issued by the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), until their expiry or the issuance of new cards by the Permanent Committee for Refugee Affairs.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, cards expiring within six months will be automatically extended. Holders are required to submit their documents at least one month before expiration and regularize their status within six months from the start of implementation.
The measure aims to ensure administrative continuity while transitioning to the new national documentation system for refugees and asylum seekers.
