Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that Türkiye will continue to support Sudan, noting the strong relations between the two countries and describing his relationship with President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, as good and distinguished.
Erdogan said Ankara is keen to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Khartoum in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two brotherly countries.
The Turkish president’s remarks come amid continued coordination between Ankara and Khartoum, particularly on issues related to economic and strategic interests and regional security, as well as cooperation on the security of the Red Sea, which is of strategic importance to both countries and the region.
Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador to Sudan Fatih Yildiz renewed his country’s support for the Sudanese government’s position calling for the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia from cities and homes before entering into any further arrangements. He affirmed that this position is based on a universal humanitarian principle, namely enabling citizens to return to their homes and ensuring that they do not remain under the control of militias.
The ambassador affirmed that Türkiye will continue to support efforts aimed at achieving security, stability, and peace in Sudan, while safeguarding its unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
