Foreign Minister: Sudanese Diplomacy Is the First Defense Line for ‎the Country’s Unity, Stability and sovereignty ‎

Foreign Minister Says Sudanese Diplomacy

Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) — Minister of Foreign Affairs and ‎International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salem affirmed ‎that Sudanese foreign policy is currently focused on supporting the ‎Armed Forces and the forces fighting alongside them in the field, and ‎protecting Sudan’s unity, stability and security. He noted that ‎diplomacy represents the country’s first line of defense in regional and ‎international forums.‎

In an interview with the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) to be published ‎later, Ambassador Mohi-Eddin said that Sudan is waging an ‎‎“existential battle” that is not confined to the battlefield, but extends ‎to regional and international forums, bilateral relations and the ‎economic sphere, noting that the targeting of Sudan takes multiple ‎forms. “The Battle of Dignity is a battle on the ground, a battle in ‎regional and international forums, at the bilateral level and also on the ‎economic front,” he said.‎

He explained that the priorities of foreign policy are shaped by the ‎needs of society and domestic circumstances, affirming that Sudanese ‎diplomacy is primarily focused on supporting the Armed Forces and ‎the forces fighting alongside them in protecting the unity, stability and ‎security of Sudan and its people. ‎
‎“Diplomacy is the first line of defense in keeping this flag flying high in ‎every forum,” the Foreign Minister said.‎

Regarding Sudan’s participation in the 81st session of the United ‎Nations General Assembly, Salem explained that preparations for ‎participation begin immediately after the conclusion of the previous ‎session, through specialized directorates at the Ministry of Foreign ‎Affairs and Sudanese diplomatic missions around the world.‎

He noted that the General Assembly is not limited to official sessions ‎and speeches by heads of state and their representatives, but also ‎includes numerous bilateral activities and meetings, providing an ‎opportunity to engage with countries from around the world, as it is ‎the largest international forum bringing together representatives of ‎states.‎

The minister noted that the summit was originally expected to be led ‎at the presidential level, but due to certain developments, and ‎following the denial of a visa to the President’s delegation, the plan ‎was redirected toward filling this gap and confronting the challenge ‎created by those seeking to target Sudan. He said this turned the ‎participation into something of a diplomatic battle on the ‎international stage, which perhaps explains why people followed with ‎such intensity every word and activity undertaken by the delegation in ‎New York.‎

In this context, he commended all those who took part in the ‎delegation, affirming that the participation provided an opportunity to ‎defend Sudan’s issues and convey its position to the international ‎community.‎
