Federal Minister of Health Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim inaugurated a workshop on strengthening laboratory preparedness and response to cholera in Khartoum on Sunday. The workshop is being organized in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and funded by the French government from July 19 to 28, 2026.
The minister underscored the importance of the National Public Health Laboratory as a cornerstone of public health protection, praising the efforts of laboratory personnel across the country.
The workshop aims to train rapid response teams and laboratory representatives, update cholera testing strategies, and standardize response mechanisms to enhance the health system's readiness to combat outbreaks and curb the spread of epidemics.
