Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ahmed Modawi Musa welcomed the first group of university and higher institute professors and their families upon their arrival in Khartoum from Cairo as part of a program aimed at returning 1,000 academics and their families to support the stabilization of universities and the resumption of academic activities.
The minister said the return of university professors represents a key pillar in rebuilding higher education institutions and restoring their operations. He affirmed that the program to repatriate academics from abroad will continue in coordination with the Hope Committee for Voluntary Return and the Professional Union of University Professors, in implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister.
He noted that the return of qualified Sudanese academics would help stabilize the academic process and strengthen students' confidence in higher education institutions. He also commended the efforts of the Hope Committee for Voluntary Return, government entities, and partner organizations that contributed to the success of the program.
The minister also expressed his appreciation to Egypt's leadership, government, and people for hosting Sudanese academics over the past several years. He further thanked the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo and the Professional Union of University Professors for coordinating their return, as well as the various entities that participated in welcoming them upon their arrival in Khartoum.
