Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun announced that arrangements are underway to add new aircraft to the fleet of Sudan Airways (Sudanair), alongside plans to acquire new vessels for the national maritime fleet as part of a broader strategy to modernize the country's transport institutions.

The minister said the ministry inherited only one operational aircraft in the Sudan Airways fleet and two vessels in the maritime transport sector, expressing confidence that both sectors will undergo significant development in the coming period. He also pointed to growing activity in river transport, particularly along the Kosti–Malakal route linking Sudan and South Sudan.

Haroun noted that the transport sector has been severely affected by the war, explaining that the country's road network has deteriorated and requires comprehensive rehabilitation backed by substantial funding. He added that current revenues, which rely mainly on transit fees, are insufficient to meet maintenance and reconstruction needs.
