Khartoum, (Nabaa Sudan) – Engineer Osman Mirghani, spokesperson for the Committee for Creating an Enabling Environment, Building Confidence and Conducting Preliminary Consultations for Sudanese Dialogue, said the dialogue is proceeding along three tracks: political, societal and international.
He noted that the international track had moved at a faster pace than expected and had begun to reveal the contours of its position even before the dialogue process had reached its final results.
Speaking during a consultative meeting with media professionals, Mirghani said international and regional positions supporting Sudanese–Sudanese dialogue had emerged recently, describing this as momentum that could strengthen the Sudanese political track.
He pointed to a U.S. position supporting Sudanese-led dialogue, in addition to meetings held by the committee with a number of European ambassadors, noting supportive positions toward Sudanese dialogue from the European Union.
Mirghani said the committee had also held meetings with a number of ambassadors and regional actors, noting the participation of diplomatic representatives from regional countries in following the dialogue process.
He said these positions, in his assessment, reflected regional and international acceptance of the dialogue between Sudanese parties, stressing that this momentum should be leveraged by Sudanese political forces in the interest of the Sudanese cause, rather than serving the interests of any particular political group.
Mirghani added that regional and international support and guarantees represent an opportunity for Sudanese political forces to reach understandings, bridge differences between the parties, and capitalize on the external momentum to advance the political track.
