Statement in Support of the Initiative to Prepare for a Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue

The Reform Now Movement has followed with interest the press conference and statement issued by the Initiative to Prepare for a Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue, including its clear definition of the nature of the committee’s role at this stage. The role is based on creating a conducive environment, building trust, and facilitating preliminary consultations with political, civil and community forces inside and outside Sudan; listening to the concerns and expectations of the parties; gathering their proposals; and bringing their views closer together. This is intended to pave the way for developing a shared vision regarding the conditions, methodology, guarantees and agenda of the dialogue, without imposing a predetermined process or agenda.

Based on this specific definition of the committee’s role and objectives, and given that it is a Sudanese initiative aimed at creating the conditions for dialogue—not a preparatory committee mandated to determine its agenda or manage its process—the Reform Now Movement announces its support for this national effort.

The Movement views it as an important step toward reclaiming the national issue from external domination and internationalization, while reaffirming a principle it has consistently upheld: that the dialogue must be Sudanese-owned and driven by the will of the Sudanese people, inclusive of all parties, and independent in its decision-making. The Sudanese people alone have the right to determine their political future and define their national choices.

The Movement also extends its appreciation and gratitude to the initiating group, which brought together a distinguished group of Sudanese who have united in support of the national cause, the preservation of the country's unity, sovereignty and institutions, and efforts to open the way for Sudanese to resolve their differences through dialogue and national consensus.

At the same time, the Movement calls upon the committee to address what appears to be a clear imbalance in the composition of its membership, particularly with regard to the representation of different intellectual and political schools. It also calls for broader and more equitable representation of women and young people, in a manner that enhances the initiative’s inclusiveness and credibility and makes it more representative of the diversity of Sudanese society and its active forces.

The Reform Now Movement affirms its readiness to contribute every sincere national effort toward unifying the internal front, strengthening national cohesion, and upholding the value of dialogue and peaceful and civilized means in addressing issues of disagreement and differing visions and positions. Such efforts should preserve the authority of the state, the unity of the nation, and the people's right to security, stability and a dignified life.

The Movement appeals to all political and national forces to engage positively and responsibly with such efforts and to recognize the gravity of the current stage and the magnitude of the challenges facing the country. In times of existential crises, demanding perfection at the expense of what is achievable, adopting rigid positions, and placing partial disagreements above the requirements of the national interest constitute a clear betrayal of the nation at a time of hardship.

Sudan today is more in need than ever of a voice that unites rather than divides, and of a national will capable of overcoming the bitterness of the past and the disagreements of the present to build a future founded on the unity of the country, the sovereignty of the state, the rule of law, and the free will of the Sudanese people.

We pray to Allah to guide Sudan and its people toward a course of righteousness, unite them upon that which is best for the country and its people, and spread security, peace and stability throughout all its regions. We pray that Allah accepts the martyrs of Sudan and rewards all those who have given their blood, sweat and intellect in defense of the country, its sovereignty, unity and resources.

Allahu Akbar, and glory to Sudan.
