Finance Minister 1

Bangkok (Nabaa Sudan) – On the sidelines of the annual meetings of ‎the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in ‎Bangkok, Finance Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim met with Chulvat ‎Narinthrangura, Director-General of the Thailand International ‎Cooperation Agency (TICA), to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ‎cooperation between Sudan and Thailand within the framework of ‎Africa–Thailand cooperation.‎

The discussions focused on strengthening the development ‎partnership and supporting Sudan’s economic and productive ‎priorities.‎

Both sides underscored the importance of signing a memorandum of ‎understanding to establish a framework for cooperation, define its ‎areas of focus and determine implementation mechanisms. They also ‎stressed the importance of strengthening Sudan’s participation in the ‎annual Africa–Thailand Forum to expand opportunities for exchanging ‎expertise and benefiting from development experiences.‎

The meeting explored opportunities for cooperation in vocational ‎training and capacity-building, agriculture and food security, including ‎fish marketing, as well as energy, water, sugar production and the salt ‎trade. Particular emphasis was placed on drawing on Thai expertise to ‎boost production and strengthen national capacities.‎

The two sides agreed to send technical teams to assess cooperation ‎opportunities on the ground, evaluate needs and identify priority ‎projects in preparation for developing practical, implementable ‎programmes. The aim is to translate mutual understanding into ‎productive partnerships that support Sudan’s economic recovery and ‎sustainable development.‎
