Sudan, France Discuss Security and Political Developments in Kordofan and Darfur

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim received French Special Envoy to Sudan Ambassador Bertrand Kouchner at his residence in the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
The two sides discussed developments in Sudan, focusing on Kordofan and Darfur. Ambassador Kouchner, drawing on his experience in Chad, emphasized the need for reason and a settlement that preserves Sudan’s security, territorial integrity, and citizens.
Minister Salim affirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to protecting civilians and strengthening security in Kordofan and Darfur. He noted the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are in decline, describing the current phase as their “final throes” and asserting that victory is inevitable.
The meeting also reviewed ongoing political contacts facilitated by friendly nations to support an inclusive Sudanese dialogue. Both sides concluded by reaffirming their commitment to advancing bilateral relations across multiple fields.
