Washington, (Nabaa Sudan) – Advisor to the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Dr. Amjad Farid Al-Tayeb said the Sudanese Government does not seek war with any party, but will not accept the use of violence and armed force as a means of blackmailing the state, imposing political realities, or securing gains by force of arms.
Addressing a high-level roundtable hosted by the Hudson Institute in the US capital, Washington, Farid said foreign interventions that fuel instability represent one of the challenges facing the region. He stressed the Sudanese Government’s readiness to engage seriously and constructively in efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and containing areas of conflict.
He warned that the continuation of the current state of instability threatens not only Sudan, but also has a direct impact on the security and stability of the region as a whole.
Farid affirmed that pursuing de-escalation and peace does not conflict with the state’s responsibility to protect its citizens. He stressed that defending citizens, safeguarding Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and protecting state institutions are fundamental responsibilities that cannot be relinquished or subjected to political bargaining.
Farid said the government would continue to fulfill its responsibilities to protect the people, the state, and its institutions, while remaining open to every serious path that could contribute to ending the war and achieving stability, provided that peace does not become a cover for rewarding violence or legitimizing gains secured through the use of force.
