Federal Minister of Health Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim discussed bilateral relations and prospects for strengthening cooperation in the health sector with Saudi Ambassador to Sudan Dr. Zaid bin Mukhlid Al-Harbi, in the presence of Undersecretary of the Ministry Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed and a number of ministry officials.
The minister praised Saudi Arabia’s support for Sudan, noting that the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSRelief) provided approximately $33 million to support the health sector through the end of 2025. He affirmed that the Centre had been the main supporter of Sudan’s health sector, particularly during the war.
He explained that the ministry has developed a strategy for reconstruction and rehabilitation of health facilities, calling for continued support and the provision of medical equipment and supplies, as well as greater joint investment, including in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
For his part, the Saudi ambassador underscored the importance of moving relations between the two countries from assistance to partnership in a way that serves the interests of both countries on a sustainable basis.
