Sudan, UN Discuss RSF Attacks and Regional Stability in the Horn of Africa

UN Envoy

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohi-Eddin Salim received UN Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Kuang Cong at his residence in the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
The meeting reviewed developments in Sudan and their impact on the wider Horn of Africa, emphasizing the need to address root causes of regional crises, reject violence, uphold state sovereignty, and oppose external interference that undermines national and regional interests.
The UN envoy expressed concern over repeated attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on humanitarian convoys, including a recent assault on a World Food Programme (WFP) convoy.
Minister Salim expressed regret over the incident, affirming that the Sudanese Armed Forces are regaining control over the national territory. He urged the UN to pressure the RSF’s financiers and supporters to stop fuelling the war and to hold the perpetrators accountable for documented crimes.
