Federal Health Minister Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim held talks with Dr. Hanan Hassan Balkhy, the Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean at the World Health Organization (WHO), on ways to strengthen support for Sudan’s health priorities, on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in Geneva.
The meeting addressed support for efforts to combat malaria and neglected tropical diseases such as mycetoma, in addition to resource mobilization, health capacity-building, and strengthening partnerships.
The World Health Organization affirmed its readiness to cooperate in the areas of financing and technical support, while the Health Minister stressed Sudan’s orientation toward strengthening the health system and expanding the role of states in service delivery.
The two sides agreed to continue coordination in disease control, resource mobilization, and the enhancement of health partnerships.
