The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), backed by supporting forces, announced on Wednesday that they had liberated the border town of Al-Kormuk in Blue Nile State after fierce battles that ended in a decisive victory.
In a statement, the military said it inflicted heavy losses in personnel and equipment on the Dagalo terrorist militia and its mercenaries, forcing the remaining fighters to flee and abandon their weapons and military vehicles.
The Armed Forces praised the resilience of residents in Al-Kormuk and surrounding areas, reaffirming that protecting civilians, restoring essential services, and facilitating the return of normal life will be top priorities in the next phase.
“Our Armed Forces are writing a new chapter of honor and dignity, proving through deeds—not words—that when they are determined, they prevail; when they advance, they triumph; and when they make a promise, they keep it,” the statement said. “With Allah's help, they will continue advancing with confidence, sustained by the resolve of their personnel, the trust of the Sudanese people, and the justice of their mission to defend the nation and safeguard its sovereignty.”
The military reaffirmed that the Battle of Dignity will continue until the “terrorist militia” and its supporters are defeated and every inch of Sudanese territory is secured.
The statement concluded by paying tribute to the martyrs, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded, and expressing hope for the safe return of prisoners and missing persons.
