Cairo, (Nabaa Sudan) — A delegation from the Preparatory Committee for the Sudanese-Sudanese Dialogue met on Saturday in Cairo with UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for Sudan Pekka Haavisto to discuss efforts to create a conducive environment for dialogue and broaden consultations with political forces and civil and community groups inside and outside Sudan.

The meeting addressed legal guarantees for participation, outreach to native administration leaders, youth, women, internally displaced persons (IDPs) and communities affected by the war, as well as ways to coordinate the committee’s efforts with the United Nations and regional and international mechanisms.

The committee delegation stressed that its role is focused on preparing for dialogue, building confidence and facilitating initial consultations, emphasizing that the process must be inclusive and Sudanese-owned.
