The Sudanese Police have restored citizens’ databases and official records and resumed operations at several public service centers in Khartoum State after their facilities and equipment were destroyed during the war.
Speaking at the fifth regular police forum in Omdurman, Police Spokesperson Brigadier General Fath Al-Rahman Al-Toum said the public service centers had recovered from the extensive damage to their buildings, equipment and networks, confirming that citizens’ databases and official records had been restored.
He said the police were working to expand digital connectivity among the service centers and broaden the provision of services across the states, with the aim of reducing the need for citizens to travel and easing the burdens resulting from the circumstances of the war.
Director-General of the Public Service Centers Directorate, Major (Police) Tariq Al-Rayah, revealed that the Omdurman Public Service Complex had processed more than 206,000 transactions since resuming operations, at a rate of between 7,000 and 10,000 services per day, including passport, civil registry and civil defense services.
He added that the Public Service Complex in Bahri had reached the final stages of preparation ahead of its opening in the coming days, while the Khartoum center is expected to be completed within approximately three months.
He explained that the operational plans include allocating halls for specific services, including dedicated services for teachers and facilities equipped for persons with disabilities. They also include tracking vehicles and cars that were lost or looted during the war, in coordination with the Interpol system.
For his part, Head of the Police Forces’ Guidance and Services Authority, Lieutenant General (Police) Abdel Fattah Othman Mohamed Ahmed, said the Ministry of Interior and the Police Headquarters were working to rehabilitate the service centers and modernize their infrastructure and technology to meet the requirements of the post-war and reconstruction phase.
The fifth regular police forum, organized by the General Directorate of Media and Public Relations under the theme “Bright Insights and Decisive Clarifications,” was attended by police and media leaders and officials from the Khartoum State Government. The forum addressed the status of public services and plans to resume operations at the affected centers.
