On the sidelines of his participation in the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Sudanese Minister of Justice Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dirif met with Dr. Hala bint Mazid Al-Tuwaijri, Chairperson of the Saudi Human Rights Commission. The meeting was attended by Minister of State at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development Suleima Izhaq, the permanent delegates of both countries, and members of the delegations.
The discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Sudan and Saudi Arabia in international forums, reflecting the growing fraternal relations between the two countries.
Minister Dirif affirmed Sudan’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s role in supporting efforts to resolve the current crisis, praising the Kingdom’s contributions in the field of humanitarian response. He also reviewed recent developments in Sudan, particularly regarding human rights, the efforts of judicial institutions to strengthen the rule of law, achieve accountability, combat impunity, and protect civilians from violations.
For her part, Dr. Hala Al-Tuwaijri reaffirmed the strength of the historic relations between the two brotherly peoples and stressed the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Sudan until it overcomes its crisis and restores stability.
She also expressed solidarity with women and girls in Sudan, especially in light of the humanitarian challenges imposed by the conflict.
