Prime Minister Kamil Idris announced that Khartoum International Airport will resume operations in the coming days, following the completion of rehabilitation works.
The announcement came during an inspection visit by the Prime Minister to service institutions related to citizen services. He toured Khartoum International Airport accompanied by Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Ali Mohamed Ali, Director General of Sudan Airports Company Lt. Gen. Eng. Sir-Al-Khatim Babiker Al-Tayib, Director General of Khartoum International Airport Ayman Afifi, and Head of the Khartoum Airport Rehabilitation Team Maj. Gen. Mubarak Osman.
Prime Minister Idris and the accompanying delegation inspected the airport’s various facilities, reviewed ongoing rehabilitation and improvement efforts, and examined the future development plan.
He congratulated the people of Sudan on the rehabilitation of Khartoum International Airport, describing it as a major achievement accomplished within a short period. He also paid tribute to President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan.
The Prime Minister praised the efforts of the dedicated soldiers who contributed to restoring the airport, expressing his satisfaction and reassurance regarding the completion of all operational details related to airport movement.
Prime Minister Idris urged Sudanese citizens abroad, and in the states, to return voluntarily to their historic capital, Khartoum, and to their homes. He reassured them that air traffic would begin in the coming days. He renewed his thanks to all those involved in the rehabilitation works and affirmed the Government of Hope’s commitment to continuing improvements and development at Khartoum International Airport.
For his part, Director General of Sudan Airports Company Lt. Gen. Eng. Sir-Al-Khatim Babiker Al-Tayib welcomed the Prime Minister’s visit, noting that it provides a strong incentive to continue enhancing performance. He pledged that the company would mobilize all its capabilities to serve the Sudanese people.
