The UK Supreme Court has ruled that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) must pay £262,292 to a domestic worker employed by UAE diplomat Salim Al-Jabri, recognizing her as a victim of human trafficking after she was held in his London home for 89 days before managing to escape.
According to the judge, she was made to work over 17 hours a day without rest days or lunch breaks, suffered from malnutrition, verbal abuse, and threats, had her passport confiscated, and was prohibited from using the internet in her apartment, reported The Guardian.
