Yale University: El-Fasher Nearly Devoid of Civilians One Year After ‎RSF Takeover

Yale El Fasher

‎(Nabaa Sudan) – US-based Yale University said that El-Fasher, the ‎capital of North Darfur State, is now almost entirely devoid of civilians, ‎one year after the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia seized control of ‎the city.‎

Yale University added that satellite imagery revealed extensive areas of ‎the city covered with grass, indicating an absence of movement by ‎civilians, animals and vehicles.‎

RSF media outlets have regularly circulated manipulated videos in ‎recent months purporting to show civilians still living in El-Fasher. ‎Witnesses, however, say that the militia recruits civilians from other ‎parts of Darfur and brings them into the city specifically to film them ‎in an effort to attract UN humanitarian assistance.‎
