President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, said the war in Sudan has entered its fourth year, killing at least 59,000 people and displacing more than 14 million. He noted that famine and widespread sexual violence have left millions of Sudanese in urgent need of food, medicine, and psychological support.
In an article published by Foreign Policy magazine under the title “How to Bring Peace to Sudan?”, Al-Burhan said that more than 12 attempts to broker a ceasefire, led by international actors, had all failed, calling for a genuine and lasting end to the war.
TSC President added that Sudanese want a definitive end to the war, as well as an end to foreign interference, which he said had “torn our country apart and turned the suffering of our people into an arena for influence, interests and gains.”
