The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Sudan has handed over technical equipment to the General Directorate of Civil Registry, Passports and Immigration to strengthen refugee registration and documentation operations across the country.
The equipment includes laptop computers, fingerprint and iris scanning devices, cameras, and printers to support the issuance of identification numbers for foreign nationals in coordination with the Commission for Refugees.
UNHCR affirmed that the handover is intended to support the government's efforts to document more than 800,000 refugees, ensuring their access to legal protection, essential services, and assistance programs.
