In a positive step reflecting the recovery of air travel and the strengthening of ties between Sudan and Egypt, EgyptAir has announced the resumption of its flights to Port Sudan, operating five scheduled flights per week.
The airline said its first flight will depart from Cairo International Airport on Wednesday, 5 August 2026, at 10:45 a.m., bound for Port Sudan International Airport. The regular service will continue throughout the week, enhancing travel opportunities as well as commercial and tourism exchange between the two countries.
For his part, Egypt’s Consul General in Sudan, Mohamed Magdy, welcomed the return of Egypt’s national carrier to Sudanese airspace, describing the move as a positive sign of the growing bilateral relationship and the recovery of the aviation sector after a period of challenges.
EgyptAir Manager Bahaa Abdel-Gadir also affirmed the airline’s commitment to providing regular and safe flights that meet the needs of travellers from both countries. He said the carrier is dedicated to delivering high-quality services to ensure passenger comfort and further strengthen the ties between the brotherly peoples of Sudan and Egypt.
The resumption of EgyptAir’s flights to Port Sudan is expected to provide significant support for the regional economy by facilitating trade, tourism, and the exchange of expertise, while also enabling the Egyptian and Sudanese communities to maintain closer connections.
Residents of Port Sudan welcomed the resumption of the flights, expressing hope that the service will continue and further promote cooperation and economic development between Sudan and Egypt.
