Moscow (Nabaa Sudan) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, said Sudan is facing grave challenges as a result of the war of aggression imposed on the country by the rebel militia, which receives political and logistical support from regional and international powers.
He noted that, despite these challenges, Sudan seeks peace and strives to achieve stability in a manner that preserves its dignity and stature, safeguards its unity and fulfills the aspirations of its people. He stressed that the government’s vision is for peace to be exclusively Sudanese-led, without external dictates or interference.
Addressing the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow on Thursday, Al-Burhan disclosed that efforts were underway to prepare the country for a democratic civilian transition through an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that would lay sustainable foundations for political stability in Sudan, leading to a transitional period followed by free and fair elections under regional and international monitoring.
Al-Burhan commended Russia’s strong positions in support of Sudan, particularly since the outbreak of the war in 2023, notably its firm stance in support of Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against external interference, as well as the solidarity, coordination and support Sudan receives from Russia in all international forums.
